Getting The Holiday Look With #BourjoisKissmass*

12/20/2017

When the Influenster Bourjois box fell through my door featuring their products to achieve the perfect holiday look, I was excited. All the colours were deep and smoky, unlike anything I already owned. I'm a natural girl when it comes to the makeup in my life, I like to keep it simple and only really pull out the eyeliner for special occasions. The aim of #BourjoisKissmass was to share a look you create with the contents of the box, and post a selfie on Instagram. This post wasn't at all required, but I thought it'd be fun to do a little review as I don't get the opportunity to write up  makeup posts often. Yolo (is that the right use of that? I swear I will get down with the kids eventually.). I'm going to review each product individually so it's easy to skip any you're familiar with or just aren't interested in. If this format isn't the best, do let me know as I'm a novice when it comes to these type of posts.

Healthy Mix Foundation || £9.99: For years I've seen this foundation bouncing around Youtube, in fact it was one the first foundations that I swatched thanks to EssieButton. So many bloggers swear by it so to say I was excited to try it out was an understatement. The result? I'm torn. I really liked the colour match and I think the formula is great. It's silky smooth and the smell is wonderful, but after a few hours of wear I could see patches and it seemed to streak on my skin making my fine hairs and little scars way more visible than my usual L'Oreal True Match does (and their colour range is far better). I'm going to keep having a play around and maybe try it out with a brush instead of my sponge or hands. If you own and love this, how do you apply it? I'd love to know.

Healthy Mix Concealer || £8.99: I liked this. A lot. But 100% not for under my eyes. The colour match is a little off so I don't know whether that is the problem, but it seemed to crack so easily on my under eyes and didn't conceal my dark circles at all.  For pimple coverage though, I'd gladly give it a 10/10.

Bourjois Little Round Pot Blusher in FRAICHEUR DE ROSE || £6.49: I'm a huge blush advocate. I'm a complete failure at contour so Instead I favour adding some colour to my cheeks. This little pot is lovely. It is subtle but it's most definitely what you want for this time of year. I'm currently loving using it as a sort of highlight for my cheekbones with a little darker blush udner. It adds a healthy glow that usually matches my red nose caused by the cold.

Bourjois Volume Glamour Push Up Ultra Black Mascara || £8.99: This was the highlight of the box for me. I've never been hugely fussy when it comes to mascaras, I usually get whatever is on offer or whatever fits into my 3 for 2 deal. But this is a wonderful one that I will definitely aim to get in future. You know how all mascaras say that they give a falsies look but really they just add a tad bit of length and colour? Well, this one leaves you satisfied.

Bourjois Quad Smoky Stories Eyeshadow Palette in Over Rose || £7.99: The quad palette caught my eye instantly. I'd never given any thought to trying some purple shades on my eyelids before, but who could possibly pass down the glitter centre? I'll admit that the colour pay off was a little weak, but for someone like me who is still trying to grasp the notion of shading and all that, it was helpful. But if you're a "one swipe and go" sorta girl, this might frustrate you. The glitters pigmentation is far better when using your (clean) finger too.

Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lipstick || £8.99: It is inevitable that this entire look would be centred around these. The pigmentation is rich and the texture glides on like butter - though that can be rather annoying when it comes to putting them on your lips. Definitely not smear proof. Proceed with cation. But the colours are stunning and I'm definitely going to look into getting a shade that is more wearable for day to day.
The colours from left to right are:
MAGNI FIG 10
BERRY FORMIDABLE 11
BRUNETTE 12.

All in all, I really enjoyed having a play with Bourjois products and it has made me interested in seeing what more they have in their range. Big thanks again to Influenster and Bourjois for sending me this box, and here are my holiday looks. I decided to do a day-to-night version as I thought it'd be more fun. So, enjoy.
